Some may have noticed the crowdfunding notice at the top of our pages:

Please help to prevent the forum from being closed
Crowd Funding

It is scary wording, not my doing, so let me explain what is happening.

The people that host the hardware and the software used for our site and thousands of others, MYFF, are soliciting donations to upgrade their environment such that they can continue to provide the hardware and software we use at RTI. The MYFF folks provide the basic software we use at the site and assist me when I have issues with the additions and enhancements I make to the site's look and function. They also maintain the web domain name and the computer hardware that runs all the software.

It seems that if MYFF is unable to meet their goals, their services will cease at the end of June 2017. In that case I will be able to get our site's database exported and then would have to find a hosting service on the internet and the associated software to re-establish our web site. I hope and pray that it does not come to this. If it does, however, I think I will be able to make the transition to a new environment with only a few days of downtime for RTI. I would rather not do this, but if it is to be I have some plans for workarounds.

For anyone interested in contributing to the MYFF funding campaign, please see this site:
http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/myff-org

Donations made at the site are for the site management folks at MYFF. I have nothing to do with this campaign or the funding it receives.

If you decide to donate please indicate in your donation that you are donating on behalf of RTI by including the following link in your donation's notes: http://rti.myfineforum.org  It would be helpful for the MYFF folks to know we are supporting their efforts and if the day comes when I need a database export of our entire site, they will give me some extra consideration and assistance.

Thank You!

10,000 Pound Sterling, is a lot of money to host.  There are NONE less expensive in North America?

Well, that amount represents hardware and software upgrades for over 2000 internet discussion sites having over 2 million members, so around $13,000 is not that significant when one considers the number of RAID enabled servers and other expenses required.

For me to set up a forum with a host provider along with the software required for discussion forums, plus development of the site themes will cost around $1500.00, excluding labor. I may be able to do it more cheaply if I rely upon other venues that give less control and flexibility. I am exploring the options. One is promising, requiring about half the projected cost.

There is some potential good news related to this. The MYFF admin has posted that there may be a way for MYFF to remain operative and the pending closure of all the sites they host will not happen. Please lift up prayers that this be the will of God.

The folks at MYFF have managed to partner with Tapatalk, so the emergency that loomed over us has passed. I am told that even our site would be accessible via Tapatalk at some point. Stay tuned and thank you for your prayers.

The announcement at the top of our pages:

The free forums are now under new ownership, a full announcement will be made shortly
‎"...bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" ~

Relate to the association of the MYFF folks with Tapatalk. The announcement has nothing to do with the ongoing management of this site by myself and our moderators.
